2017 Travel Highlights

OK, I know it is super late but for me, the whole January counts pretty good for the new year resolutions and the previous year memory collections. So, I would like to take some time to remember my travel highlights of 2017!

We actually managed to celebrate the Italian time New Years Eve in the plane somewhere around the Atlantic Ocean. The idea was to celebrate our first part of honeymoon with some sea and sun on January and it was an amazing idea! We had a cruise - I need to write something about the cruise sometime soon but here are the highlights :

Havana (Cuba)

Montego Bay (Jamaica)

Cayman Islands

Cozumel (Mexico)

Once we are back to Italy, I was busy with some paperwork, such as updating my passport with my updated surname after the wedding, updating all my names within the Italian democracy and asking for a new permit of stay in Italy. All these paperwork kinda kept me in Italy for a while - especially within Europe.

With all the issues with my passport and my residence permit and the limitations of not having the opportunity to have a transit flight etc., we managed to escape to Japan for a 10 days of Eastern break in April! So, here are the highlights from Japan :

Then, another black-out period until I received my residence permit in June (after waiting like 5 months!) and I actually presented my PhD dissertation. So, to celebrate my new degree and our first anniversary, we decided to have a romantic (yeah, you heard me) weekend getaway on July in Paris :

Finally it"s August. Did you know that August in Italy meant a whole month of vacation? So we decided to have some family time. We spent three weeks in Turkey, my home :

Istanbul

Fethiye

Saklikent
Oludeniz

Zonguldak

Amasra

Then another 10 days in Puglia on the seaside, Italy in another home :

Monopoli

Polignano a Mare

In September, you think that it's time to go back to work. Not for us, since we have a "Summer School" in the south Italy, which obviously meant more sea time!

Maratea

In October we started to slow down. As a part of PhD requirements, Fabio had to collaborate in a university abroad and Fabio ended up to decide with one in London. Which meant a trip for me to the British embassy in Rome, so yey!

In november, Fabio was in London and me in Pisa. After a looooong 3 weeks in which I had to wait for my passport to arrive and we had to miss each other a looot, we had a long weekend in London, in which we started to celebrate Christmas already.

The year ended for us in Puglia, Fabio's home quiet sick so we went out nowhere but a little walk around Monopoli. At least we had Santa visiting us!

And that was the 2017 for us! 3 continents, 9 countries and lots of photos and memories! Did you have a good year?
